Independent of the all the noise, what I did in the past, what I wanted to do in my two years and the many years ahead

A slice of life: beyond building capacity, there are also specific policy changes that I thought might be worth enacting, some pursued and others no longer pursuing.

What I wanted: spreading the joy of making things

There is something deeply empowering about being able to bring an idea to life. It stirs something within people and allows them to dream bigger and increase threshold for pain (not indefinitely, but certainty sets up a longer time horizon to endure for change). It is true for a difficult breakdancing move. It is true for bringing a piece of design to life through code.

Often times, this desire to make things either get sidestepped by the many other things on our plate or just start to seem ever too daunting/ risky for one to get started.

I hope I help to carve a space in MOE for technical officers to want to stay so our kids use good EduTech + have good teachers. A sizable number of friends from my teaching…
