Creating a digital replica
AI Digital Avatar Day 3: Tutorial on making an ‘identical’ digital copy of yourself
Inspired by @covacut (her original instagram post), written for educators learning about AI risks/ potential in education
What is covered today:
I. Creating your digital avatar / twin— Heygen
II. Creating your voice replica — Elevenlabs
tldr: generally the process is relatively painless and requires no coding (but it does involve manually connecting Elevenlabs and Heygen). The first cut output is less performant than expected but am processing a studio quality version of audio to test the output for a fair comparsion. I will not use HeyGen out-of-the-box as a Singaporean male with a “strong accent” (as international friends always claim).
Recap of past few days:
- Day 1 — creating an AI video using synthesia
- Day 2 — Technical Architecture for Digital Avatar conversational systems (Linly-Talker, CosyVoice2 + bonus DanteAI)
These are all leading up to an online sharing on talking heads research on 29 Apr, 4pm to validate the educational value of digital avatars.
